This coffee is sourced from producers that are part of a coffee cooperative living in the Oromia Zone (the first to prepare and drink coffee). Coffee cooperatives are very important in Ethiopia because they act as a bargaining tool that allows small producers to receive better prices and access resources, training, and credit.

Ethiopia is known as the birthplace of coffee. A goat herder named Kaldi is understood to have found his goats very energetic after eating the native naturally growing berries. He later took some to a nearby Monastery where a monk made them into a drink, and the rest is history.
